So I did my mammogram this month.

It’s no secret that breast cancer screening is scary but important. How can we do better to convince and reassure you?

My mammogram took literally 5 minutes then I had an ultrasound and I was done! All the anxiety and the buildup in my head and was such a non-event.

Quick though doesn’t underestimate the anxiety, but it does mean you know quicker.

It is better to know the results earlier than knowing it too late right?

I’m 48 years old. Suddenly, I’m no longer a young adult (currently defined as 20-40 years of age) but I still feel like one dammit! And so unsurprisingly, I still have ‘dense’ breasts. This is important because this can affect the ability to see any masses – both the breast tissue and mass appear white on the scan and so the breast tissue can ‘hide’ the mass.

For more on this please read more on the blog about dense breasts.
